Port of Livorno

Land Transport and Travel To and From Port Livorno
(Livorno, Tuscany, Italy)

It is easy to get to and from the city of Livorno and its port by car, bus or train. If you are driving from Bologna, Milan or other major Italian cities, you will need to get on the A1 motorway. To get to the Stazione Marittima, the main ferry terminal for passengers, you will need to exit the A1 motorway. Follow the signs for Porto/Imbarchi,Corsica/Saregna and Moby, and this will lead you directly to the port terminals.

From the port, it is a short distance to the main part of the city, which offers car hire outlets, post offices, public international phone booths, cafés and restaurants, and accommodation.

Travel by Bus and Shuttles

Sena bus services are among the most extensive in Italy, networking throughout Italy. It is possible to take a Sena bus and arrive at Livorno with no difficulty. The buses are air conditioned (or heated in winter) and very comfortable. Many other regional bus services connect to the Sena's main bus depots, making connections to Livorno easy and convenient.

Trains and Rail Travel

Italy has a well structured train network that makes its way through major cities and smaller towns. The fares are reasonable and connections are convenient.

Livorno's main railway station is about three kilometres from its port. The station is connected to both international and local lines from Naples, Rome, Genoa and many other cities and towns.

Car Parking

The port has a large parking area offering both short and long-term parking. There are also specially designated areas for the physically challenged.

Travel by Taxis

There are many taxi services available in Livorno offering different services. Some taxi services, like the Tuscany Taxi service, provide drivers for all day sightseeing or transportation from Livorno to other major Italian cities.

Regular taxis are readily available outside the port, the railway station and the main bus depots. There are also taxi waiting areas in the city. Not all taxis use metres in Italy.
